As moms, we know that fitness is important, but it can be hard to find the time! That’s why we’re making it a priority to stay active. It’ll set a great example for our little ones to see us taking care of ourselves –– and help us keep up with them for years to come.
Wondering how you’re going to balance mom life and working out? Here are our top 10 fitness tips for moms on the go.
Prioritize a regular fitness routine: It’s easier to work out when it’s something that you know you’ll do a set number of times every week. You know you have spin on Mondays, pilates on Wednesdays, and boot camp on Thursdays and Saturdays. It’s your routine and you’re committed to sticking to it!
Put your workouts in the calendar: Just as you would with any meeting or appointment, add your workouts to your calendar. They’re equally as important as that big presentation!
Invest in your fitness: Whether it’s boutique fitness classes or a personal trainer that you meet with weekly, when you invest in your fitness, you’re sending a message to yourself that fitness is a top priority.
Wake up early: Once the kids get up, all bets are off! Wake up bright and early to squeeze in a run or a class to start your day off right. But, if you have to choose between working out and sleep –– opt for a good night’s sleep.
Bring your workouts to you: If your schedule is too crazy to think about getting away from the little ones, bring the workout to you! Many of our favorite fitness studios have workouts available online or you can work with a personal trainer willing to come to your house.
Remember how good you’ll feel after your workout: The hardest part of staying fit is starting. Once you’re at the gym, you’ll always be glad you’re there!
Multi-task by bringing along the kids: Barre classes with babies, a moms’ stroller workout –– there are ways to bring the kids along and teach them lifelong lessons about the importance of fitness.
Find friends to keep you accountable: Meet up for a walk or a dance class. When friends are counting on you to be there, it’s easier to show up. An added bonus: go out to coffee or brunch afterward.
Get in your steps: Whenever possible, get moving! Aim for 10K steps a day.
Treat yourself: Don’t forget to take time to recognize all the hard work you’re putting in! You should be proud of yourself for making fitness a priority and taking care of yourself in 2020.
